MAD About Race

To some, I imagine the unfolding of events that have led to what can only be described as a racial reckoning in America has come as a bit of a surprise. Not to me.

To me, it is more like FINALLY! Coupled with a fervent prayer that this moment in time doesn’t fade like so many others in the past, but that we are able, as a nation, to face our demons, make our amends, and become forever changed as a result of what is transpiring right now, in the summer of 2020.

In this post, I’d like to share a few articles with you that I posted in Medium. I expect to do more writing and also, to offer some online courses and coaching on the topic. So dive in to the links below…and stay tuned.

There is No Such Thing as Non-Violence in America

“So, know that the “violence” you are watching unfold on TV, and on the streets, didn’t just start, and it isn’t a reaction to one incident. It is a consequence of the violent conditions that have been woven into the very fabric of the nation. That fabric *must* be unraveled and rewoven if we are to survive as a nation.”

If This is Where We Part Ways, So Be It

“I look at my beautiful daughter, who just graduated from high school this past weekend, and I imagine her head underneath the knee of a police officer. I imagine the life draining out of her, as she pleads for mercy. I imagine people standing around, filming it, unable to intervene because an armed officer “protects” the scene.”

Let the Racist Part of You Die So That Others Can Live

“I see your pain in this moment. I know that you feel deeply about what is happening. I know that the death of George Floyd moved you, and that the actions of Amy Cooper probably upset and maybe even embarrassed you. But I also see your confusion. Your desperate need to say and do the “right thing.””
